Perfect little mouse!

Review Date: December 22, 2008
Reviewer: S. Brade, London
I purchased this mouse recently to use with my MacBook, as I found that using the trackpad for long periods of time was playing havoc on my wrist. This was money well spent!
The mouse was very easy to set up and is such a compact size. The wireless receiver also sits very neatly underneath the mouse when not in use. You can also go to the Logitech website to download additional software.
A must for every laptop

I really like this little mouse and can't think how I ever used a laptop without one.

It connects in a second via the USB and works very well on any surface. After use the USB stores away neatly under the mouse and turns it off.

Very reasonably priced as well.
I Am Very Glad With This Mouse

Review Date: September 27, 2008
Reviewer: Mrs. Maureen Adams,
I got this mouse for my laptop because my touch pad kept on freezing.
And I have to say it's not something i am going to regret anytime soon.
It's quite, the roller is not stiff, you don't need to shove it. It's a very attractive well designed mouse.

Overall 5/5
Excellent wireless mouse for my laptop

Reviewer: V. J. Salt, Staffiordshire England
Bought this mouse as the keypad on my new Acer laptop is so sensitive that I keep mistyping all over the place. Being left-handed is sometimes a distinct advantage !
Actually love my laptop but it was not really usable for me so went onto Amazon looking for a mouse.
Found this one and am really pleased with it. It doesnt interfere with the touchpad so can still use that as and when I wish. Its wireless usb adapter parks beautifully under the mouse for travelling and switches the mouse off - in case I forget. An excellent choice.
Have not downloaded the additional software as really do not need any bells and whistles on my mouse just the basic functionality which this has is fine. Didn't even have to install anything. Just switched it on, plugged it in and it worked. Just like that. Marvellous.
a great little mouse

Review Date: January 14, 2009
Reviewer: Mr. R. Davies,
I have big hands but I like a small mouse. This little mouse is excellent. very responsive. If you download the software, each user can have their own settings (e.g. pointer speed) if they have separate logins. I have made an adaptor so I can use an AAA battery in it, which is lighter than the AA it's supposed to take (although it won't last as long), by wrapping a piece of card around the battery, and using a small spring so the battery makes contact with the mouse contacts.

Great little mouse!

Review Date: April 8, 2008
Reviewer: Mikey, London
Very easy to set up and configure on my new macbook. The mouse is white so looks good alongside. Horizontal scroll was of no use to me at all but configured it so that left is application windows and right is all windows allowing great ease of use. The scroll wheel click I set to spaces so i can flick through anything i want without even having to touch the keyboard!

Connects well and works on the couch and bed as well as table top. All in all well worth the money spent and getting loads of use out of it. Batteries are still going strong after a couple of months however I do turn it off overnight!
Le grande fromage!

I used this mouse to replace my Apple bluetooth one & I must say that I have not regretted the decision. It is a bit squatter than the Apples 'pebble' shape but the ergonomics are nevertheless appealing. The scroll wheel is basic but does what it is supposed to do very well. My PowerBook recognised the Logitech with no fuss & so far the battery life is definitely out performing my old mouse by a country mile. I have since bought another one of these for my daughters laptop & have no hesitation in saying buy this mouse.
Excelent Mouse

When my Apple Mighty Mouse failed after 3 days and I really wanted a bluetooth mouse for my new MacBook I decided to try this Logitech one.

It is small/compact and thus easily transported but large enough to be easy to use. Light and moves easily.

It worked immediately, is comfortable, easy to use, reliable, etc. I am very satisfied.

I would thoroughly recommend it.

I did not install Logitech software and have always used it as a standard bluetooth mouse. This seems to provide all the functionality I need (including left and right scroll as well as up and down using the wheel). I did read some negative comments about some versions of the software (re: conflicts with Growl) but I also read there were solutions - but I felt the standard operation was all I needed.
The mouse to get!

I hummed and haa-ed, spoke to friends and despite being advised to go for the Logitech V470, I went for the Microsoft unit. I've been happy with their mice in the past, and it was a few quid less too. To cut a long story short, I have now bought a V470. I have both units in front of me as I write, and sadly the 5000 isn't even close. The scroll wheel sensitivity cannot be adjusted (or re-programmed, unlike the Logitech, with their excellent control centre software), and the buttons are already beginning to stick. The Logitech mouse is a dream; fits my hand perfectly, nice feel to the buttons and wheel. BTW, I am using a MacBook Pro running OS X and Windows XP
Perfect!

Ive just bought this for my macbook. Its a great simple bluetooth mouse. Certainly not too small as suggested in another review and fits neatly in your hand. Quickly connected to my laptop and works without fault, and I did not have to load any of the included software.

If you want a good, solid bluetooth mouse i don't think you can go wrong with this

Received today and plugged into my laptop. It was working for 1 minute. Then it went to sleep. So I was trying to unplug it. The plastic bit of the transceiver just came off and the metal bit left inside my USB port! The metal was boiling hot! I almost burnt my fingers when I was trying to get it out.

I have requested for a replacement. Hopefully I will get it soon.

I will come back for the next review.

Smooth, versatile and comfortable

Review Date: July 18, 2007
Reviewer: Mr. D. A. Wilmot, Nottingham, UK
I can't fault this mouse - I use it on Mac OS and Windows and its by far the best mouse I have ever owned. The movement of the mouse itself is very smooth and being able to customise the different buttons for different applications really speeds up workflow and makes it a joy to use. The near frictionless scrolling totally amazed me as I didn't discover it straight away (slide the microgear scroller on the bottom to turn on)...

Get one....
What a lovely, lovely, mouse.

Review Date: May 22, 2007
Reviewer: R. B. Gillett, Sheffield UK
I have been a fan of Logitech mice for over 10 years and have become accoustomed to their build quality, reliability and comfort. I use an MX 1000 on my desktop and so last week, when I acquired my first laptop, I immediately began looking for a suitable mouse. The Logitech VX Revolution stood out head and shoulders above the competition.

It arrived yesterday; I installed the drivers, plugged in the dongle and everything worked perfectly first time. Despite its 3/4 size it is a pleasure to use, the supporting software allows customisation of practically all the buttons and other things besides - and the new 'free-spinning' wheel is great innovation. (I'm told that some people are still using mice whose wheels don't even rock sideways!) All in all it's a beautiful mouse, cleverly designed and well made.

If you need a laptop mouse, can afford the investment and are prepared to pay for quality then you'd be very hard pressed to find a better way of spending your money.

Unless of course you're left-handed!
Great!

Review Date: June 28, 2007
Reviewer: John Howells,
Having not used a mouse for as long as I can remember I love how easy and intuitive this mouse is. The best 2 reasons to buy it are:
1) The Search button - Highlight a word in a document or web page, press find and it opens your search engine (you choose which) and brings up the results for the word
2) The Zoom button - Move from a 6 page view to 500% in no time at all, makes using Word/Excel/PowerPoint so easy!
3) Take out the USB dongle it turns the mouse on, put it back in, it turns it off! Great for saving battery power!
All in all, amazing value, great build am sure some other mice do this but all in all, great value! BUY ONE!
An Excellent Mouse

Review Date: February 9, 2008
Reviewer: Jonah S. Thurgood, Leslie, Fife
After a good few months thinking and weekends scouring of the internet it came down to a choice between this mouse and Logitech's MX Revolution mouse to replace my standard one button Apple Wireless Mouse. I decided on this for both the zoom slider and the fact that it used a single AA battery rather than a built in battery.

The mouse itself is wonderful, it feels lovely in your hand and glides smoothly over any surface I've tried it on without losing anything off the extremely accurate tracking. On my iMac the buttons are completely configurable and can not only be given global settings but can application specific as well which is brilliant for games (as the mouse is overall). In addition the scroll wheel is brilliant, generally I use it in freewheel mode which is not only great for quick scrolling of pages but is sensitive enough to stop close to the line you were looking for. I didn't originally think much of this feature but it's quickly proved to be one of my favourite things about this mouse.

The size is also very good even though it is not as big as a full size desktop mouse, it's possibly a bit small for my hands but for a laptop mouse it's a good size for carrying around. The fact the the receiver also stores in the mouse itself is a massive bonus as it means you're not likely to lose it so easily.

Overall if you're looking for a first rate laptop mouse (or even desktop mouse) you would not be sorry with this one, it's not only well designed but also easy to use and very comfortable. It's not cheap but you rally do get what you pay for as you do with any Logitech product I've ever used.
The Mary Poppins of Notebook Mice - Practically Perfect in Every Way

Review Date: September 5, 2008
Reviewer: Toad,
What a fabulous mouse - the contours fit to the hand comfortably, with a slightly textured surface at the thumb indentation for extra extra firm grip.

Slightly larger than some notebook mice, but I think this is all to the good, as it takes a certain size to provide sufficient support for the hand. However, it is still small and convenient.

Unlike the nano, which attempts to work for both left handed and right handed people (and is, in consequence, comfortable for neither), navigation keys are on the left side of the mouse, allowing navigation using the thumb.

There is also a zoom function, easily accessible on top using index finger. (On the nano, this is the position of the navigation key, there being no thumb keys, and is excruciatingly useless position for such a frequently used function). I'm not quite convinced about the zoom button though - it feels to me that it might be a little fragile. Only longer term use will show if this continues to work.

Of course, you can always switch the functions around using software, but I don't see any reason for anyone in their right mind to do so (not sure about gamers - they might have other needs. I don't know anything about that).

The scrolling options also are extremely useful, with a small switch on the bottom turning on the freewheeling function, allowing scrolling of many pages with only a flick of the finger, reducing stress.

However, one caveat: This mouse is not for left-handers. I don't know if they produce a left-handed version of this mouse, but otherwise, lefties - this product is not for you. It seems to be the price of truly ergonomic tailoring; a single mouse cannot cater to either hand.

For a right handed person like me, though, it is a joy to use. Thoroughly recommended. Enjoy!

I've been using computers, and mice, for a very very long time and my hand has suffered from the wear and tear. I thought it would take a while to get used to the new mouse but within a half an hour it felt really comfortable and still is. I would highly recommend it.

Excellent Mouse

Review Date: May 14, 2008
Reviewer: Harvey Hanson, Manchester, UK
This is a great little mouse; it fits nicely into the hand, has useful and well placed buttons on the side, and looks great too.

The only downside is a preference that I would have liked the scroll wheel to click, which it does not, it freewheels, but each person has different preferences.

So, to recap, great mouse, lasts ages on battery (I have had it for 2weeks using 8hours a day, not charged it and it still works fine and registers good battery in IntelliPoint).

I would have no qualms about recommending.

Also, if you like this mouse, have a look at the Desktop set (Keyboard and Mouse) which is called the Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 7000, the keyboard is very nice which goes with it.

5 Stars easily, well done MS
Super Sensitive Mouse Welcome 21 Century

Review Date: December 5, 2008
Reviewer: Mr. P. J. R. LEWIS, Llandudno N Wales
To say im impressed with how this mouse looks and operates is putting it mildly.
I was quite happy with my no thrills Microsoft IntelliMouse which as we all know is optical and works a treat but the sensitivity of LASER technology is a step up in performance.Everything happens so quickly.

I really love the looks of this 7000 mouse with the mouse contoured to fit your hand which takes a while to get used to.

At the moment this is cutting edge technology just as optical was a huge step forward over that dreaded nuisance of ball and fluff.

This model works with radio control by the use of a very smart glow in the dark USB dongle that plugs into any available port.

Installation was simplicity in itself with Vista 64bit software instantly recognising the signal. The sensitivity of the mouse takes a bit getting used to,everything happens a lot faster than normal with the mouse cursor travelling at much faster speeds than optical mice can provide.

If you are into graphic design where the use of the mouse is vital to your work then LASER mouse technology is where you should be.

The chrome work around the sides and buttons are silky smooth.

The price may be at the moment up market but the way this 7000 mouse works and looks justifies that price.

The only gripe i suppose is the shaving style two pronged connection for the mains lead that plugs neatly into the lovely to look at base unit.

Us in the UK last time i can remember have a different three pronged arrangement but the purchase of that shaving mains adapter solves the problem.

Everything about this mouse is pleasing to the eye,so much so the mouse im testing or using was meant as a christmas present but im not sure whether im now willing to part with it.
Fantastic Mouse

Review Date: January 18, 2010
Reviewer: happy amazon user,
I use this mouse on Windows 7, XP and Mac OSX (Leopard), often hotswapping between them. Works like a charm!
As soon as i plugged it into a Windows 7 PC it was picked up straight away, no need to install drivers from CD. Shows up in Device Stage Manager with the correct picture etc and can assign buttons (on the left, where your thumb sits there are two discreet buttons, i currently assigned them to CTRL and SHIFT). Also plug and play with XP, installed drivers off disc for inteli point drivers to be able to assign button functionality.

The resolution of the laser is superb. I use software such as Pro Tools which often requires very fine mouse moves which my previous mouse couldn't do. This means i'm always moving the right functions on screen. Same with Logic on Mac, lots of synths require very fine tuning which my mouse often missed but with the 7000 its really smooth when fine tuning by small increments.

The charging dock is a great idea, no need to worry about not having any spare batteries around. Battery life itself if really good, hardly ever have to charge to it! The ergonimc design is comfortable, i'll work anywhere between 8 and 15 hours a day and the design is prefect for this.

Definately recommend!!
Decent mouse but bad charger

Review Date: December 22, 2008
Reviewer: ChunkyMonkey, London, UK
Mouse works fine - better tracking on a smooth featureless desk than my old wireless mouse (wireless laser mouse 6000) which tended to skip and jump as it had problems tracking the desk surface. Wireless range is good too - transmits fine from back of my PC under my desk, through the desk to the mouse.
However, I have the same charger problem as described by other reviewer Chimpanzee - It is very sensitive to how it sits on the charger dock. Thanks to Chimp's suggestion to stick a bit of paper between it and the charger and wiggle it into a position where it will charge, I can use it. However not impressed that this seems to be a fundamental design flaw or at least a bad batch.
Prone to problems

Review Date: September 24, 2008
Reviewer: Chimpanzee, Bristol, UK
I had to have this replaced once as the first one I received would not charge. I now appear to be having the same problem with a replacement whereby the connection between the mouse and it's charging cradle is very sensitive. I have to place a piece of paper half-between the mouse and the cradle for the connection to remain in place.

Luckily, the battery is pretty good so I only have to do this once every three weeks or so with fairly heavy use.

Other than the issue charging, the build quality seems quite good, as is the reception. It is also one of the more comfortable mice that I've used.

Unfortunately, to make use of all it's additional buttons and features, you have to use Microsoft's Intellipoint drivers which are awful. For example, you can't scroll down in Winamp. I've read on the Winamp forums that this is a known issue with MS mice and is down to the way the driver interprets the mouse wheel. Seems to be another case of MS not sticking to industry standards. This makes for a major irritation.

I'd like to mention something positive to finish with but I can't think of anything other than what I mentioned above.
